This is a non-exhaustive list of over 100 fulfilled Islamic prophecies, meaning there are more which I have decided to leave out. Additionally, the descriptions and explanations have been kept brief for the sake of brevity.

This is the first part of a two-part article, this one containing 50 prophecies and the next containing 51.

These prophecies are varied in how shocking they are, with some being mind blowing with how specific and accurate they are.

Out of the many prophecies made, there are only a handful that have not come true yet. Whoever is reading this right now should ask themselves these questions: How could someone make over 100 prophecies and have all of them come true after his death? At what point does it stop being a coincidence; at what point does the pattern become clear?

With that aside, let us begin.

The first four prophecies, marked with brackets, were prophesied to happen after the Prophets (ﷺ) death. [1]

  1. [The Muslim conquest of Jerusalem.]

The Muslims went from being persecuted by the pagans of Mecca to fighting the two superpowers of the region, the Byzantines and Sassanids. In the year 637 AD, Jerusalem was captured from the Byzantines by the Muslims. This was done under the rule of Umar ibn Al-Khattab, the second Caliph of the Rashidun. [2]

  2. [A plague will ravage the Muslims.]

In the year 638 AD, a plague dubbed the “Plague of Amwas” or the “Plague of Emmaus” ravaged the Muslims in Syria and ended in tens of thousands of deaths. This was also under the rule of Umar. [3]

  3. [An increase of wealth amongst the Muslims to the point that nobody would be found to accept sadaqah (Donations to the poor).]

During Uthman's leadership, the Muslim empire expanded quickly through continued conquests. This growth brought in a lot of wealth, enabling the prophecy to come true. Some scholars say that this happened during Umar ibn Abdul Aziz’s rule, however. [5]

  4. [A massive affliction that no Arab home would escape.]

After the assassination of the Caliph Uthman in 656 AD, chaos was widespread throughout the entirety of Arabia and no Arab home was spared. This eventually led to the war between Mu’awiyah and Ali, where much killing took place, and the affliction continued for years after. [5]

  5. The barefoot Bedouins competing in the construction of tall buildings.

  6. The emergence of the Khawarij (An extreme deviant group that was the precursor to ISIS and their ilk). [6][7][8]

It was prophesied that a group will emerge from Iraq which would worship in such abundance that the other Muslims would be ashamed of their own. However, this group “will [also] recite the Qur'an which will not exceed their throats (they will not act on it) and they will go out of Islam as an arrow goes out through the game”. Additionally, when the Prophet (ﷺ) was asked for more signs about this group, he said that another distinguishing characteristic will be their shaved heads.

The Khawarij eventually came and they fulfilled all of these signs. They came from Iraq and were extreme in their worship due to their flawed beliefs. To them, a major sin like fornication meant apostasy. This idea made them fear so heavily that they would sin and apostate that they went to extremes in worship in an attempt to avoid those sins.

Ironically, this same philosophy led to the other part of the prophecy coming true about them. That being the fact they would “go out of Islam as an arrow goes through the game”, i.e. they would apostate easily, which came from the burnout of acting in such a way along with attacking and excommunicating the rest of the Muslims.

Finally, the Khawarij also distinguished themselves by fully shaving their heads as a sign of asceticism, something that is not a part of Islam, which fulfilled the final part of the prophecy. [9]

  7. The locations and names of the fallen at the Battle of Badr.

Before the decisive Battle of Badr, the Prophet (ﷺ) went on the battlefield with at least one of his companions. He placed his hand on different areas on the ground and said, “this is the place where so and so will be killed”, naming the to-be-dead and their deathplaces. After the battle, the companion saw that in the exact areas the Prophet (ﷺ) put his hand on, there lay the soldiers that he named. [10]

  8. A trial where the one who sits is better than the one who stands.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “The Last Hour will not come until the two parties (of Muslims) confront each other and there is a large-scale massacre amongst them and the claim of both of them is the same.[11]. This was briefly spoken about beforehand, and it is the war between Ali and Mu’awiyah. Both of them claimed to be the true leader of the Muslims due to their own interpretations of the events that unfolded after the chaos that came from the assassination of Uthman, which we will go into more detail on soon.

This split up the Muslims into three groups, one with Ali who were fighting Muawiyah, one with Muawiyah who were fighting Ali, and the last being the ones who realized that this exact event was prophesied beforehand.

When the Prophet (ﷺ) spoke about this trial, he said that those who are sitting during it will be better than the one who stands and that one should stay away from fighting at all costs [Sahih al-Bukhari Vol. 9, Book 88, Hadith 203]. This final group who realized that this trial was prophesied followed the Prophets (ﷺ) orders, dulling their swords and staying away from the fighting. They also tried to warn the others, but many did not see them as being correct and left them.

This is proven by the fact that the majority of the companions did not take part in the trial between Ali and Mu’awiyah.

    Ibn Sirin said:

The trial raged, and the companions of the Prophet were around ten thousand in number at that time; and less than a hundred of them attended it. In fact, there were not more than thirty of them.

  9. Jizya in Muslim areas prevented by the non-Muslims.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Iraq would withhold its [money and foodstuffs]; Syria would withhold its [money and foodstuffs], and Egypt would withhold its [money and foodstuffs]…” [12] and then said that the non-Muslims would prevent them. As explained by An-Nawawi, the money and foodstuffs mean the payment of Jizya, which is the tax taken from non-Muslims in a caliphate.

In other words, the hadith is saying that non-Muslims will prevent the Muslims from taking Jizya. We have now seen that these areas no longer take Jizya from their non-Muslim citizens due to foreign influence and pressure.

Additionally, the Prophet also said “you would recoil to that position from where you started”, referencing another hadith telling us that during this time Islam will be seen as strange once again, which has played a part in the removal of Jizya.

  10. Numerous afflictions would befall the Muslims.

Usama once spoke of a time the Prophet (ﷺ) stood at the top of one of the taller buildings of Medina and said, "Do you see what I see? I see the spots where afflictions will take place among your houses, and these afflictions will be as numerous as the spots where raindrops fall." [13].

Some of the afflictions that came are spoken about in this article, but there are many that are not spoken about here. Among the trials that the early Muslims faced were the Khawarij, the assassination of Umar and Uthman, the fights between the armies of Ali and Mu’awiya, the Battle of Harrah that was caused by a tyrannical ruler killing the Muslims, and the Mu’tazilah taking over, then torturing and killing the Muslims to force their false ideology.

  11. The killing of Umar would be the door to the trials that will afflict the Muslims.

Umar was once sitting amongst some of the other companions of the Prophet (ﷺ) and asked them if any of them remember what the Prophet (ﷺ) had said about the afflictions that the Muslims would face. Hudhaifa replied by telling Umar that there is no reason for him to be worried about those afflictions, as he will never experience them. He said, “Don't worry about it, O chief of the believers, for there is a closed door between you and them.”. Umar said, "Will that door be broken or opened?" Hudaifa replied, "It will be broken." Umar asked further, "Then it will never be closed?" and Hudhaifa replied in the affirmative. [14]

Later, when Hudhaifa was asked what is meant by “the closed door”, he replied that it is Umar. This meant that Hudhaifa was saying that Umar would never face any of the large afflictions that were prophesied as Umar himself was the door to them, and this door would be “broken”, i.e. Umar would be killed.

Things ended up unfolding as Hudhaifa had known back then, for Umar was assassinated and a massive amount of trials had befallen the Muslims right after, many mentioned in the prophecy above this one.

  12. The brave soldier in Hellfire.

During one of the battles the Muslims had with the pagans, there was a brave warrior amongst the Muslims which the other Muslims looked at in awe. As the two armies rested in their camps, the Prophet (ﷺ) heard this man being praised and said “He is from the dwellers of the Hell-Fire." The people said were shocked and said, "Who amongst us will be of the dwellers of Paradise if this man is from the dwellers of the Hell-Fire?". Thus, one of the men decided to follow this seemingly brave man in his next battle.

Later on, that man came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and told him “I testify that you are the messenger of Allah.”. He explained that as he watched the brave warrior, the warrior was wounded. The soldier responded by immediately threw himself onto his sword, impaling it through his chest and committing suicide. As the Prophet (ﷺ) predicted, there was an insincerity in this warriors heart that the others could not see which was exposed by his suicide. The Prophet (ﷺ) then explained that a person may outwardly show the deeds of the dwellers of paradise his whole life, but in reality will be in Hell, and vice versa. [15]

  13. Liars will make up narrations from the Prophet (ﷺ).

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “There will be deceivers near the end of time, liars who will bring narrations you have never heard, neither you nor your fathers. Beware, lest they misguide you and afflict you with trials.” [16]

We have had people in the past who have fabricated narrations about the Prophet (ﷺ) and were caught out on it, like the infamous Al-Waqidi, and we now have people today fabricating hadiths as well.

The motives range from Muslims wanting to justify their reprehensible innovated practices in religion, to non-Muslims wanting to make Islam look bad with their baseless lies. There are many examples of the latter as well, some of these anti-Islam polemicists having somewhat large followings to this day. This ties into the next prophecy.

  14. The deceitful will be trusted and the trustworthy will be denied.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Years of treachery will come over people in which liars are believed and the truthful are denied, the deceitful are trusted and the trustworthy are considered traitors…” [17].

This has applied in multiple periods of history but is especially relevant to what I spoke about previously. In the past, the fabricators of narrations were rejected from society and known to everyone as liars. Nowadays, the ease of creating a hugbox on the internet has allowed these deceivers to garner massive followings with no resistance. This has resulted in their ignorant followers believing these deceivers and denying the trustworthy.

  15. The Hour will not be established until a man passes near a grave and rolls on it, wishing he was in it. [18]

U.S. Suicide Rates Are the Highest They've Been Since World War II.

  16. The revival of the cult of Dhul-Khalasa by the tribe of Daws.

Click here to read “Dhul-Khalasa Prophecy”.

  17. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “The Hour will not begin until time passes quickly, so a year will be like a month, and a month will be like a week, and a week will be like a day, and a day will be like an hour, and an hour will be like the burning of a braid of palm leaves.” [20]

What is meant by “time passing quickly” is that the days will feel like they are passing quicker and that the people will do less beneficial deeds due to how fast time feels like it is going.

  18. There will be thirty deceivers who gain a significant following and become a trial, each claiming to be a prophet of God. [21]

There have been many claimants to prophethood who have gained a following while causing many issues for the people, whether that be through deceit or by causing harm to the people. Some examples are Musaylimah the Liar, Joseph Smith, Shoko Asahara, and Mukhtar al-Thaqafi, all of them ending up harming and killing many due to their actions; Shoko Asahara causing the relatively recent Tokyo Subway Sarin Gas Attacks.

  19. Killing with no reason known to the killer or killed.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “A time would come when the murderer would not know why he has committed the murder, and the victim would not know why he has been killed.[22].

Look no further than modern mass killings to see this prophecy in action. Even outside of mass killings, this is clear as day for the modern world. “Teen McDonald's worker killed in 'random' shooting by man at drive-thru.

  20. The disappearance of religious knowledge.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said that religious knowledge will be taken away by the death of religious scholars. After the death of the scholars, “people will take as their leaders’ ignorant persons who, when consulted, will give their verdict without knowledge. So they will go astray and will lead the people astray.[23].

Today, most of the scholars who stick to the texts of the classical scholars are reaching the end of their lives. It has become common to look on the news and see that another one of these scholars has died due to health complications from old age.

  21. People will take religious knowledge from the ignorant.

As this is happening, the laymen are being led astray by people who claim to be scholars while ignoring, and sometimes even attacking, the classical scholars and their positions.

Through the deaths of the learned scholars and the rise of the ignorant, this prophecy is coming true right in front of our eyes.

  22. The fighting of the Muslims with the Mongols, and the Siege of Baghdad.

Click here to read “The Siege of Baghdad Prophecy”.

Additionally, the Prophet (ﷺ) said that the Muslims would fight a people with flat faces and small eyes wearing shoes and clothes made of hair (i.e. fur) [24]. This is the exact description of the Mongols and their clothing. [25]

  23. A band of rebels would kill ‘Ammar. [26]

‘Ammar, a companion of the Prophet (ﷺ), was told during the Battle of the Ditch that he would be killed by a band of rebels. Three decades after the prophecy was made, the Battle of Siffin, which is one of the battles between Ali and Muawiyah, had begun. Right before ‘Ammar had gone to battle, he asked for a drink. As ‘Ammar saw that he was given milk, he laughed and said, “The Prophet (ﷺ) told me that the last drink I would have from this world would be milk.[27]. Finally, he went out to fight the rebellious group with Muawiyah and was martyred.

  24. The end of the Emperor’s influence.

The Arab tribe of Quraysh had embraced Islam, but something worried them. They relied heavily on the trade routes to and from Greater Syria and Iraq and they feared that they would be blocked from using them. What made them worry was the fact that both Greater Syria and Iraq were controlled by the Byzantium and Sassanid empires, empires that had their leaders reject Islam after being called to it.

When this worry was brought forth to the Prophet (ﷺ), he told them: “When Chosroes dies, there will be no Chosroes after him; and when Caesar dies, there will be no Caesar after him, [and] you will spend their treasures in the path of God.[28] meaning that once these rulers pass away, their empires will lose their influence in these areas. As the Prophet (ﷺ) said, these empires lost their influence on these areas once their current rulers died, the Sassanid Empire even collapsing completely soon after.

  25. Byzantine Comeback.

  26. The destruction of the Sassanid Empire.

Click here to read “The Destruction of the Sassanids”

  27. The Muslims would be the ones to take over the Sassanid Empire.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “There would lie open for a group of Muslims the treasures of the family of Chosroes, which would be in the white palace.[29]. Not too long after the Prophet (ﷺ) passed away, the Muslims had become so powerful that they took over Persia and gave the final blow to the Sassanid Empire, destroying it forever. When the Muslims entered their conquered land, the white palace where the Chosroes kept an immense amount of treasure laid wide open for them.

  28. Prevalence of fornication in public.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “There will be prevalence of open illegal sexual intercourse.[30] meaning fornication in the public space will become common.

This has become common and accepted in Western society due to general degeneracy and pornography. So common, in fact, that there are people making guides on the internet on how to fornicate in public without getting caught. Additionally, the NY Times reports that people having sex in public is becoming more and more common, with 22% of Americans reporting having sex in public in the preceding year alone.

  29. Open sexual immorality will result in diseases unknown to the peoples’ predecessors.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “[Sexual] immorality never appears among a people to such an extent that they commit it openly, but plagues and diseases that were never known among the predecessors will spread among them.[31].

This plays a part in the previous prophecy. Once a people embrace this degeneracy of fornicating in the streets and being open about it, they will be punished with diseases unknown to their forefathers. Up until the 1980s, AIDs was never known to the people, yet AIDs now ravages much of the lands that have openly embraced fornication and public sex as normal. Some people theorize it existed since the 1920s, but we can only speculate on the origin of AIDs and when the first infection was.

  30. Children will treat their parents with disrespect, neglecting and insulting them.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “[One of the signs of the Hour is] that the slave-girl will give birth to her mistress and master.[32].

There are several views among the scholars as to what this means. The view favored by Ibn Hajar is that there will be widespread disobedience among children, so that a child will treat his mother as an oppressive master treats his slave woman, with negligence and insults. With the widespread philosophy of individualism in the West, and this philosophy being imported by the West into other cultures, people have stopped caring about anything but themselves. Nowadays, the family structure has become so broken in the West that it is acceptable to throw your parents in a nursing home and never see them again in your life.

  31. Who will be the first of the Prophet’s (ﷺ) family to pass away after him?

While the Prophet (ﷺ) was on his deathbed, he called his daughter, Fatima, to him. He whispered to her one thing, and she cried, then he whispered a second thing to her and she laughed. The Prophet (ﷺ) had told her at first, “Gabriel used to review the Qur’an with me one time each year, and he reviewed it twice with me this year. I do not see this [to mean] except that my time has arrived, and you will be the first of my family to catch up with me.” and she cried. Then he told her, “Are you not pleased to be the queen of the believers [in Paradise]?” so she laughed. [33]

This is two prophecies in one, but I will only count it as one. Since Gabriel reviewed the Qur’an twice with the Prophet (ﷺ) that year, that meant that the Prophet (ﷺ) would not survive to reach the next year. Additionally, he told his daughter Fatima that she would be the first to “catch up with him”, i.e. she would be the first to die after the Prophet (ﷺ). Things ended up unfolding exactly as he said, as Fatima died less than a year after the Prophet (ﷺ), being the first to catch up with him.

The next two prophecies are part of one hadith.

  32. The martyrdom of Umar.

The Prophet (ﷺ) once climbed Mount Uhud with Abu Bakr as-Siddiq, Umar, and Uthman, and the mountain shook. The Prophet responded by saying “Be firm Uhud, for upon you are none other than a Prophet, a Siddiq, and two martyrs.[34].

The Prophet describes himself and Abu Bakr by their known titles, then he names Umar and Uthman as martyrs.

Later on, after the Prophet (ﷺ) and Abu Bakr passed away, Umar had become the leader of the Muslims. Things were very good for the citizens under the Caliphate and everything seemed to be going smoothly for everyone involved. However, one of the Zoroastrian slaves, Abu Lulu, felt that he was not being paid well enough by his master. Despite Umar not being the one allegedly underpaying him, Abu Lulu decided to assassinate him during prayer. As the Muslims prayed with Umar as their imam, Abu Lulu killed Umar by stabbing him in the side with a poisoned dagger, then proceeded to kill multiple other people praying in the mosque, then finally killing himself.

Umar was thus martyred while leading the prayer.

  33. The martyrdom of Uthman.

After the sudden martyrdom and assassination of Umar, the door to trials had swung wide open on the Muslims.

Uthman had been chosen to be the Caliph of the Muslims, ruling over them as a just ruler. Nobody opposed him except those who were constantly warned and reprimanded for their love of rebellion and evil. The rebels who opposed Uthman were forgiven after they apparently repented multiple times, but they returned to their evil ways once again. They had spread lies and fabrications about Uthman, justifying to themselves the killing of him in the name of “justice”, and thus took the steps to murder Uthman.

They surrounded Uthman in his own home, demanding that he give up his role as leader of the Muslims using the lies they had spread amongst themselves as justification. Eventually, they broke into his house and killed Uthman in his own home as he read the Quran.

Uthman was martyred just like the Prophet (ﷺ) had prophesied.

This group of rebels mirrors Abu Lulu in a way. Before the door to trials was opened with the assassination of Umar, there was only one who ended up causing trials to the Muslims. Afterwards, that increased to a group with the rebels against Uthman. Later in part 2, we will see that these groups that caused chaos increased in size even further, God willing.

  34. The hypocrites will demand Uthman to “remove his shirt”.

As established in the past point, evil people had demanded Uthman to give up his role as leader of the Muslims with the threat of death, but why did he not just give up his role? Uthman did not even choose himself to be the leader and he lived an ascetic lifestyle, so it was not for power or wealth as he did not desire those things. So what was it?

The reason is that the Prophet (ﷺ) knew that some evil people would demand Uthman to give up his leadership and threaten him, so he warned Uthman about it. The Prophet (ﷺ) said to Uthman, “O 'Uthman! Indeed Allah may give you a shirt, and if [some of the people] wish that you take it off, do not take it off for them." [35]. The meaning of “a shirt” is the role of the leader of the Muslims, and the rebels demanded that Uthman “take off his shirt” i.e. give up his leadership.

So Uthman was warned that people will demand he gives up his leadership and that he should not listen to them. That is why he refused to give it up despite him having no attachment to it.

  35. Hassan will be the one to reconcile the groups of Ali and Mu’awiyah.

Further prophesying how the events would unfold during the massive trials that would inflict the Muslims, the Prophet (ﷺ) also knew who would end up mending much of the issues that came forth. He took his grandson, al-Hassan, and said "This son of mine is a Chief and I hope that Allah will help him bring about reconciliation between two Muslim groups." [36].

Just as the Prophet (ﷺ) predicted, al-Hassan ended up mending the bond between the two groups that split off from one another. After the martyrdom of Ali, his son al-Hassan was given the role of being the leader of the Muslims. He saw an opportunity in this and gave leadership to Muawiyah. This helped unite the two groups of Ali and Muawiyah, as the son of Ali had united with Muawiyah after their conflict, showing to the people that they have reconciled.

(36-39) Um Haram and the Muslim conquests.

Um Haram informed us that she heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying, "Paradise is granted to the first batch of my followers who will undertake a naval expedition." Um Haram added, I said, 'O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Will I be amongst them?' He replied, 'You are amongst them.' The Prophet (ﷺ) then said, 'The first army amongst my followers who will invade Caesar's City [Constantinople] will be forgiven their sins.' I asked, 'Will I be one of them, O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)?' He replied in the negative." [37]

Um Haram ended up being in the first Muslim army unit which took a naval expedition, and this happened under the Caliphate of Mu’awiyah. However, she died shortly after and did not live to witness or partake in the conquest of Constantinople [38].

Ibn Hajar said, “This contains multiple prophecies by the Prophet ﷺ of what would take place, and it all occurred just as he said, and hence is considered among the signs of his prophethood.

  36. Of them is that his nation would remain after him, and that among them are those who would be strong, formidable, and a consequential force against the enemy, and that they [the Muslims] would conquer territories until the army rides the sea,

  37. and that [it would be so soon that] Um Haram would live until that time,

  38. and that she would be with that army who rides the sea,

  39. and that she would not live to see the second military campaign [to Constantinople].” [39]

Credit goes to Mohammad Elshinawy for the translation of this excerpt and for some of the information in this article.

  40. “Muslims” rejecting the actions and sayings of the Prophet (ﷺ) and only referring to the Qur’an, despite both being revelation.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “I have surely been given the Quran and something like it along with it. Soon the time is come when a man will recline on his couch, saying: Only follow the Quran, make lawful what you find in it as lawful and outlaw what you find in it as unlawful.[40]

What the Prophet (ﷺ) is referring to when saying “something like” the Qur’an, he means his own sayings and actions when it comes to religious matters, which is also called the Sunnah.

Hassaan ibn ‘Atiyah said, “Gabriel used to bring the Sunnah down to the Prophet (ﷺ) as he used to bring the Qur’an down to him.” [41].

In recent years, a new sect that claims Islam has emerged. They call themselves the “Quranists” or “Quraniyoon” because they reject every Hadith and only refer to the Qur’an. Despite this clear warning from the Prophet (ﷺ) centuries ago, they still fell into this trap.

  41. Women will be “clothed yet naked” and would have what resembles a camel’s hump on their heads.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said that he was shown the denizens of Hell, and there were two that he had never seen before. One of them will be talked about in part 2 of this article, God willing, and the other is this: “women who are clothed yet naked, walking with an enticing gait, with something on their heads that looks like the humps of camels, leaning to one side[42].

So they would be women who would walk in a way to get sexual attention from those in the streets while being clothed, yet naked, i.e. clothes that are so revealing they may as well not be wearing anything. Anybody who has seen how the modern dress has evolved will know that there are many examples of this today, but I will not go into specifics.

Additionally, they would have something on their heads that resembles a camel’s hump. This has happened in the past with famous hairstyles, but now it is done even by those who wear “hijab”. The “turban hijab” that the likes of Ilhan Omar wear today is exactly as described in this hadith.

Once again though, despite the Prophet (ﷺ) warning of these exact traps, many self-proclaimed “Muslims” fall into them anyway.

  42. The degeneration of the Muslims’ morals.

As somewhat of a continuation of the past prophecy, the degeneration of morals, especially sexual, would not be purely amongst the disbelievers. Despite how conservative Islam is when it comes to minimizing any possibility for fornication, the morals of some Muslims would degrade as well.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “There will be in the end of my nation men who ride chariots who are [in reality] pseudo-men; they will drop off their women, at the gates of the mosques, who are clothed [and yet] naked. Upon their heads will be the likes of a lean camel’s hump.[43].

So this immorality would not only stop at just being among the actions of the women, just in the public level, but the men would allow and promote it, and it would creep into religious sites like mosques as well. Also, as explained previously, the camel hump “turban hijab” on their heads has even become a trend in some groups. We can see this prophecy being the reality in many places in the west, especially areas where extreme liberalism has become accepted and the norm.

  43. The killing of Umaya bin Khalaf.

Umaya bin Khalaf was a heinous man. Once Islam was beginning to be preached in public and idolatry was spoken against, the pagans of Quraysh increased in animosity towards the Muslims. They started to torture and kill the Muslims in the streets to force them to renounce their Islam for years on end. Umaya was one of these men, as he took his slave, Bilal, and force him to lie on the hot desert sand while a large rock was placed on his chest.

Despite his staunch resistance against Islam, he subconsciously accepted it as the truth. When he heard that the Prophet (ﷺ) had predicted that the Muslims would kill him, Umaya was terrified. He took every precaution to avoid any conflict with the Muslims as he knew that the Prophethood of Muhammad (ﷺ) was true, and thus heeded this warning. He swore to himself, “By Allah, I will never leave Mecca.”.

Then the day came when Abu Jahl was rallying the pagans to fight the Muslims. Umaya still had fear in his heart due to the prophecy, and thus refused to go, but Abu Jahl would not relent on Umaya. Eventually, Umaya broke and said that he would go out to fight the Muslims, but on the condition that he would buy the best camel he could and that he would only go for a short distance to protect himself.

Umaya’s wife knew of the prophecy and was also scared for him so she reminded him of it as he was heading out, but he comforted her by telling her he would take the precautions and not be out for long. Despite his best efforts to avoid battle and to take as many precautions as possible, he was caught in battle with the Muslims and was killed in the Battle of Badr [44].

  44. The history of Uwais al-Qarani.

While the Prophet (ﷺ) was still alive, he told Umar ibn al-Khattab about a pious man that he would meet in the future. He told Umar that this man would be named Uwais coming as reinforcements from Yemen, being from the tribe Qaran of Murid. Additionally, Uwais would have had his leprosy cured except for the space of a coin and that his mother would be alive and his treatment of her would be well.

Years later, after the Prophet (ﷺ) had passed away, reinforcements from Yemen came to aid the Muslim army and Umar was there. He remembered what he had heard from the Prophet (ﷺ) and asked around for Uwais.

Umar went around asking “Is there amongst you Uwais b. 'Amir?” until he met Uwais. Umar continued to check every attribute of Uwais that the Prophet (ﷺ) had described and they were all accurate. Umar then said, “I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) say: “There would come to you Uwais b. Amir with the reinforcement from the people of Yemen. (He would be) from Qaran, (the branch) of Murid. He had been suffering from leprosy from which he was cured but for a spot of a dirham. His treatment with his mother would have been excellent. If he were to take an oath in the name of Allah, He would honour that. And if it is possible for you, then do ask him to beg forgiveness for you (from your Lord).”” So Uwais prayed for Umar. Then Umar asked Uwais where he was going and offered to make his living easier there, but Uwais replied that he would rather live amongst its poor [45].

  45. Literacy will become widespread.

“Many of us take for granted the abundance of books that are available in the modern age. However, the majority of people in history have never even held a book in their hands. One reason is the lack of education as most people used to be illiterate so there was not a big demand for books.

Another reason is scarcity; books were difficult and expensive to produce because each copy had to be written manually by hand. This has been the norm for most of human history, and seventh-century Arabia was no different. Muhammad was born into a society in which very few people could read or write. It is estimated that the number of people who were literate in his locality of Mecca did not exceed seventeen. Muhammad (ﷺ) himself could not read or write. There were even whole societies that didn’t have any books, they didn’t write anything down because they only had an oral language.” [The Forbidden Prophecies p.69-70]

Additionally, the suppression of knowledge and the few books that were written was taking place during the life of the Prophet (ﷺ), as he was alive during the Christian Dark Ages. Despite all of this, he prophesied that “the pen would prevail” meaning that reading and writing will become widespread [46]. It is an incredibly unintuitive prophecy to make, but we now see it as our reality.

Centuries later, the printing press was created and books started to become widespread, with literacy along with it. “To put this into perspective, the fifteenth century saw about the same number of manuscripts printed in Europe as had been produced by hand during the entire preceding fourteen centuries.” [Idib. p.71].

  46. But ignorance will increase simultaneously.

Paradoxically to the last point, the Prophet (ﷺ) also said, “ignorance will become widespread.[47]. At face value, it seems contradicting to say that people will become literate and start reading and writing, while also saying that ignorance will become widespread at this time. How could this be the case?

Sadly, this is also our world today. While most of the modern world has access to millions of books right at their fingertips for free, ignorance has become a massive problem. With the spread of the internet came the spread of fringe communities coming together and confirming each others false beliefs over and over. In the past, if you were wrong about something then people would likely tell you to stop, but now these people have found communities where their every thought will be accepted and parrotted with no resistance. Whenever any resistance does come up, however, they are insulted, berated, and kicked out of the community to keep up the facade they have built up over the years.

The reader has likely come across some of these groups and been baffled by them, as I have.

  47. The windy night.

“When we [were traveling and] reached Tabuk, the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "There will be a strong wind tonight and so no one should stand and whoever has a camel, should fasten it." So we fastened our camels. A strong wind blew at night and a man stood up and he was blown away to a mountain called Taiy.” [48].

  48. A time will come when someone getting 100 dinars will be dissatisfied.

When it comes to the prophecies that were foretold, it is known that some may happen multiple times, and this is one of them.

The Prophet said that one of the signs of the Hour would be “the increase of wealth to such an extent that even if one is given one hundred Dinars[1]. 100 Dinars is roughly the equivalent of 3,300 USD today.

This came true during the aforementioned period of wealth the Muslims experienced when they could not find anyone to give charity to, but it is also true today in some areas. There are many people today stating that if they were given a couple thousand dollars, they would not be happy about it. The reason being that it is pretty much only enough for a month or two of their rent. They have been pushed into surviving paycheck to paycheck and a large sum of cash like that is only seen as a temporary relief.

  49. Muslims will be many but the non-Muslims will devour them.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “The people will soon summon one another to attack you just as people eating invite others to share their dish.” Someone asked: “Will that be because of our small numbers at that time?” He replied: “No, you will be numerous at that time: but you will be scum and rubbish like that carried down by a torrent, and Allah will take fear of you from the chests of your enemy and cast wahn into your hearts.” Someone asked: “What is wahn?” He replied: “Love of the world and hatred of death.” [49].

“This prediction accurately describes the radical turn of events that took place in the Muslim world in the nineteenth and twentieth century. Prior to this, the Muslim lands had grown to be some of the most powerful in the world.

From the time of the death of Muhammad until the nineteenth century, the Muslims had large empires which were economically, politically, militarily, technologically, and educationally far ahead of most of the world. In the nineteenth and twentieth century the unthinkable happened, nearly all of the Muslim world from Indonesia in the far east to Libya in the far west was occupied, colonized, and militarily defeated by [various] non-Muslim nations…

In the early twentieth century, there were an estimated 200 million Muslims, representing 12.5% of the world’s population. But their considerable numbers could do nothing to prevent the defeat, the non-Muslim nations came, divided, conquered, and invited each other to take the Muslim lands, just as Muhammad foretold.” [The Forbidden Prophecies p.78].

The modern borders of the Middle East are almost all the result of the partitioning of Muslim land between colonial powers like Britain and France after WWI.

  50. Sudden death will increase.

The Prophet (ﷺ) told us that one of the signs of the Hour would be “an increase of sudden deaths[50].

At the time, people would rarely ever suddenly die as many of the deaths would come from things like battles and old age. The only people who would ever truly experience something like “sudden death” at the time would be those who would have heart attacks, but heart attacks would have been much rarer than they are today. Now, due to the modern diet and lifestyle, heart attacks are increasing even amongst the young, and even in areas that are not exceptionally wealthy.
